- Your sense of smell is your most primal sense and exerts surprising influence over your thoughts, emotions, moods, memories, and behaviours.
By Dr. Jean Valnet
Doctor Jean Valnet was born on July 26, 1920 in Châlons-sur-Marne and died in Vulaines-sur-Seine on May 29, 1995.
Dr Jean Valnet, was an army physician and surgeon.
He studied at the École du Service de Santé Militaire
et Faculté de Médecine in Lyon and graduated as a doctor of Psychiatry, Microbiology, Colonial Medicine and Surgery in 1945.
He had a distinguished military career, fighting with the resistance group Brutus in Lyon in 1942 and assisting the Chief of the surgical Services in 1944 – 45. He was Physician of the Military Special school of Saint-Cyr until 1948. He was chief physician to the Secretary of war from 1953 – 59. He was awarded the Légion d’Honneur and the Croix de Guerre (Six Citations) for his actions with the resistance during the 1939 – 45 war.
In 1959, Doctor Valnet left the army and became a civil physician in Paris, setting up his surgery on the Avenue Kléber. It was here that he practised and refined his theory of a medicine of the total man founded on the therapeutic natural, synergies, active and bereft of harmful secondary effects.
Over the next fifty years he expounded his theories in various publications, books and medical journals, many being updated until 1992. Aromatherapy, treatment of the illnesses by the essences of plants (1st edition 1964 11th and last edition 1989) – Health by fruits, vegetables and cereals (1st edition 1967 – 9th and last edition 1985) – Doctor Nature (1st edition 1971 – 2nd and last edition 1980) – Herbal medicine, treatment of the illnesses by the plants (1st edition 1972 – 6th and last edition 1992)
In 1961 he became a corresponding member of the “International Center of Biologic Research” in Geneva and produced many lectures and essays on the properties of essential oils.Besides his clinical observations, his wealth of publications and his teaching, Dr. Valnet became attached more especially to the study of the anti-infectious properties of the essential oils and to their types of action.
In 1973 together with Doctor Maurice GIRAULT of Dijon, Dr. Valnet created the term of antibio-aromatogramme to characterise a particular antibiogram (the result of a laboratory testing for the sensitivity of an isolated bacterial strain to different antibiotics), which instead of being treated with the classic antibiotics, was treated with aromatic gases.
He died on May 29, 1995, after a life entirely dedicated to medicine and his patients.
Which Essential Oil? What Type and why?
As Facebook displayed “Happy Earth Day” today the picture is quite apt for me. The watering can and a plant growing, leaves flying around AND they look like Eucalyptus Leaves. BUT which Eucalyptus? My inquiring mind set to work.
With over 700 species of eucalyptus, as well as chemical types, common names and different parts of the plant being marketed, it is no wonder that people are so confused! And, on top of it, most companies are labeling the oil all under the same genus of Eucalyptus.
Now that is not only confusing, but misleading!
Most choose Aroma for smell, whereas Aromatherapy, choose products for well-being therapy.
The THERAPEUTIC BENEFITS of all essential oils are to do just that, benefit ailments.
Therapeutic Grade is only American marketing hype as is organic and pure.
This applies to ANY Essential Oil regardless of brand. Fragrance oils are not rated.
‘Pure What’ , ‘Rated What’, we must ask, as everything we smell has an impact on our health and well-being.
Think of the ABOVE, before you think about the price
Think of BELOW to understand the basics for your Health & Well-Being.
What is in a candle, what is in incense , what is in a spray, what is in essential oils – chemicals. Good or Bad, your health is your choice. Connect with the earth today, HUG A TREE or a PLANT because they are natures medicine.
1) What is the Botanical Name? Important-Eucalyptus Which one?
2) What is the Country of Origin – Climate and soil
3) What is the Chemical Type – Therapeutic properties i.e. Immuno-stimulant
4) What is the Chemical Profile – The actual chemical percentages
The time of day and how the oil is processed can also change chemical profile.
5) As previously explained in the 5 Pillars of health, this IS number 5. It is up to us, the consumer, to know our own health profile and our own medications and/or supplements lists first. Then look at the precautions for each oil.
Suggestions of ingesting should only be made by a Qualified Professional who also understands YOUR specific Number 5.
“Happy Earth Day” my friends, don’t forget, HUG a TREE on any day!
Pure Essential Oils for Emotional Well-Being
Essential Oils play a powerful role in assisting our emotional well-being. When we hold unresolved feelings of pain and hurt within, our heartfelt emotions, they may in turn cause our bodies physical pain. However physical pain may present itself first, due to unsurfaced emotions.
Previously we talked about the 5 Pillars of Health and Well-Being.
Mental, Physical, (of the body) Emotional and Spiritual (of the mind)
The 5th pillar being dis-ease or dis-harmony between any of the above.
Dis-Harmony can lead to severe illness therefore may need to be brought to the surface for Transformation and Healing.
Emotions and Feelings – Happy or Sad – Good or Bad ?
In today’s world the simple word “EMOTIONS” is one of complexity. Many an argumentative statements claims “you are just being emotional” , however what is not understood in the communication, is the simple word “FEELINGS” . Our feelings are our emotions.
For with every positive feeling or emotion there is a negative feeling or emotion. Happy or Sad – Good or Bad ?
Five Stages of Emotional Healing with essential oils Include;
Assist in Healing the Physical Body.
Assist in Healing the Heart
Assist in releasing limiting beliefs.
Increase spiritual awareness and connection.
Inspire the fulfillment of our life’s purpose.
Essential Oils are powerful in aiding with physical health. They are 40-60 times more powerful than herbs. They assist our bodies in fighting unfriendly microorganisms, purifying organs, glands and body systems, balancing body functions and raising the body’s vibration.
As the oils secure physical health, they can then give us the energy we need to penetrate the heart and enter the emotional realm by raising our vibrations. As your body lives in a higher vibration, it wants to release stagnant anger, sadness, grief, judgment and low self-worth. Those feelings of low vibration cannot coexist with your new environment of balance and peace that the essential oils helped to create.
Emotional healing occurs as the old feelings surface, you deal with them on a conscious level and then they release. Some feel as they begin to use the oils, that they are regressing, this is just part of the process of bringing those feelings to the surface. We must release trapped negative emotions before we can receive positive feelings. This step cannot be skipped.
It is important to remember that Essential Oils do not do our emotional work for us. They simply assist in the process.
